Target for Faraway Laughter, Stranger, Legend, Martyr, Raver, Seer of Visions, Painter, Piper, Prisoner.

Roger Keith "Syd" Barrett
January 6, 1946 - July 7, 2006

Oh where are you now
Pussy willow who smiled on this leaf?
When I was alone you promised the stone from your heart
My head kissed the ground
I was half the way down, treading the sand
Please, please, lift a hand
I'm only a person whose armbands beat
On his hands, hang tall
Won't you miss me?
Wouldn't you miss me at all?

The poppy birds way
Swing twigs coffee brands around
Brandish her wand with a feathery tongue
My head kissed the ground
I was half the way down, treading the sand
Please, please, please lift the hand
I'm only a person with eskimo chain
I tattooed my brain all the way . . .
Won't you miss me?
Wouldn't you miss me at all?

Dark Globe, 1969.

P.S. Are you still after 'Fall in a Hole'?

danny: I think i saw fall in a hole on cd here but it was a bit pricey. I really like that Hex Enduction/Room to Live period. If I recall (from back when I had the vinyl double album with all the posters and whatnot) fall in a hole had a choice version of hard life in the country (d. bowie lookalikes permeate the car parks!) and the exclusive and scary-in-a-good-way "backdrop." Also i am looking for a cd copy of the extended hip priests and kamerads compilation LP with that freaky gay guy ad-libbing about transistors and stuff on the live version of And This Day.

As for "Syd," in my humble opinion, there's really not much material by him that's any good and did not make it onto Piper, Madcap or Barrett. (And let's not forget the two or three things on Saucerful of Secrets.) Opel was fair but mostly just duplicative. The shortened "jazzy" version of Interstellar Overdrive on the Tonite Let's All Make Love in London EP is definitely worth a listen, though. Once upon a time, I had a really awful sound quality bootleg of the "Stars" pick-up band concert featuring Syd and a bunch of seventies hippie b-listers. I believe it was Syd's only post-Floyd public live performance.
